Palm Beach County is now serving free meals to select seniors.
The county’s Division of Senior Services has partnered with the USDA’s Child and Adult Care Food Program to offer free or reduced-priced meals to participants enrolled at the county’s adult day care centers in Lake Worth and Palm Beach Gardens.
he program is not currently open to the public. Adult day care participants must apply for the food program, and eligibility depends on income.
The county’s adult day care centers, which are publicly funded, currently accept participants based on income and a referral by one of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs’ Aging Resource Centers, said Division of Senior Services spokesperson Vianey Yurkovich.
The division expects to convert the program by January, however, to be able to accept participants whose incomes aren’t low enough to qualify but who are willing to pay to attend the county’s adult day care centers, Yurkovich said.
