Conference to focus on health care disparities

Educating those on the short end of the stick of health care disparities and increasing the trust level that minorities have with health-care professionals will be the focal points of the inaugural “People’s Scientific Conference to Promote Health and Eliminate Health Disparities.”

The conference, sponsored by the University of Florida Health Disparities Research and Intervention Program, will be held from noon to 9:15 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at The Health Professions, Nursing, and Pharmacy Complex at 1225 Center Drive, just north of Archer Road on Center Drive on the west end of UF Health.

Dr. Carolyn Tucker, Florida Blue Endowed Chair in Health Disparities Research at the University of Florida, will be directing the conference along with Dr. Linda B. Cottler, chair of the UF Department of Epidemiology.
