Health center will expand hours thanks to $488,000 in grants

In July, Genesis Community Health, a nonprofit health center dedicated to providing primary care medical services to the underserved population in Boynton Beach, received two grants to expand its healthcare services: a state grant for $423,000 from the Florida Department of Health and a federal grant for $64,918 from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.

“Both grants demonstrate recognition at the federal and state levels of the kind of medical assistance people need in Palm Beach County,” said DeAnna Warren, Genesis’ chief executive officer.

The state’s Expanding Access to Primary Care grant will fund Genesis’ ER diversion program, which provides care to patients diverted from the emergency room of Bethesda Memorial Hospital.
