Did you know the state of Florida has the highest incidence of Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) in the U.S.? AMD is the leading cause of blindness in the U.S. in people over 70 years of age. Approximately 2 million Americans suffer from this disease, with women nearly twice as likely as men to have it.
This means you or someone you know may suffer from Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD). AMD is a disease of the eye that can lead to blindness. It is a result of a breakdown of the cells in a special area of the eye called the macula. The macula is located in the back of our eye, called the retina, and is responsible for allowing us to see fine detail in our vision.
