06 Feb CVS to quit selling tobacco products nationwide
Putting the health of its customers ahead of revenue, CVS Caremark said it would no longer sell cigarettes and other tobacco products at its 7,600 pharmacy stores nationwide on Oct.1.
The company (NYSE: CVS), which has 716 locations in Florida, said it’s committed to promoting better health and selling tobacco products is inconsistent with that purpose.
“CVS Caremark is continually looking for ways to promote health and reduce the burden of disease,” CVS Caremark Chief Medical Officer Dr. Troyen A. Brennan, said in a news release. “Stopping the sale of cigarettes and tobacco will make a significant difference in reducing the chronic illnesses associated with tobacco use.”
