League of Women Voters Talks Caring for the Elderly at Luncheon

The League of Women Voters hosted a free luncheon Tuesday afternoon at the Waterfront Restaurant in La Crosse to talk about how the growing number of elderly can live independently and stay out of poverty.

The League of Women Voters welcomed Wanda Plachecki, Administrator of La Crosse County’s Lakeview Health Center in West Salem, to speak.

Plachecki said the number of Americans 65 or older is expected to double by 2060, the number of Americans over 85 is expected to more than triple, and the number of Americans over 100 years old is projected to grow by nine times.
