Southwest Florida prepares for hurricane season

People across Southwest Florida are starting to prepare for hurricane season.

Businesses, residents and some government agencies are all getting ready. But could some of those agencies be left in the dark if Florida doesn’t get an operating budget by July 1st?

On Thursday, we asked Governor Rick Scott just how prepared state agencies are.

The governor has said without a budget, dozens of agencies could have to shut down. One of those that would be impacted is the Florida National Guard.

Although the clock is ticking, the governor says he remains optimistic that disaster can be avoided.
