Folks go fly fishing to fight cancer

Fly fishing has healing properties — and that’s no fish tale.

Casting for Recovery, a national non-profit organization, puts on 42 fly fishing retreats a year for breast cancer patients and survivors. Last month, the organization held a retreat in Lake Mary, and Carol Amster of Boynton Beach was among those trying their luck.

Amster, 66, is in remission. She drove three hours north to attend the river retreat with 13 other women.

In December 2012, right after her 65th birthday, Amster found out she had breast cancer after a routine mammogram.
